Threats and Harassment Impact Local Government Leadership and Regional Partnerships

One number in this research really made me stop and think.
46% of local officials said threats and harassment have made them less likely to run for re-election. When experienced leaders decide to step away, communities lose more than a familiar face.
They lose years of knowledge. They lose trusted relationships. They lose the perspective that helps local government work through difficult decisions.
Creating an environment where people can serve safely benefits everyone.
